I’m so grateful for Easter. It means I get a second chance!
Easter is a time of celebration, hope, and happiness. One of the things that makes me happiest at Easter time is remembering that because of Christ, I get a second chance at life. He washed away my sins, gave me a new life, a future, and eternal hope! That second chance was an outflow of His love. God can’t be in the presence of sin, so He took it upon Himself to wash us clean, so that we could be together with Him, in His presence, in this life, and the life to come.
God loved me so much that even if I was the only person on earth, He would have died for me, and rose again, to offer me that second chance, and new life. That’s true for me, for you, and all the world.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” —John 3:16
Each time my dogs jump in my lap and run to me, loving me unconditionally, I’m reminded of God’s unfailing love. No matter what I do, they offer second, third, fourth, fifth chances . . . , and continue to offer their steadfast love. That love motivates me to be a better person. God’s love also motivates me to be a better person.
I’m so grateful for second chances, aren’t you?
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. — 2 Corinthians 5:17
