Happy Thanksgiving, dear friends! Join with me in giving God thanks by meditating on this beautiful Thanksgiving prayer/poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
We Thank Thee
by: Ralph Waldo Emerson
For flowers that bloom about our feet,
Father, we thank Thee.
For tender grass so fresh, so sweet,
Father, we thank Thee.
For the song of bird and hum of bee,
For all things fair we hear or see,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee. Continue reading “A Thanksgiving Blessing, by Ralph Waldo Emerson”
When I’m feeling blue, my dogs motivate me to get out and walk. And when I do, I always gain fresh perspective and feel happier!
Life is tough, and more often than not we find ourselves sitting inside lamenting our problems in the dark rather than getting outside and letting nature and sunshine help us heal.
Personally, I think dog owners have an amazing advantage in this area. Dogs need their daily walks or playtime outside. What better motivator to lay aside our problems and get outside and hang out with our furry friends!
If you’re feeling sad or troubled in heart, I’d like to encourage you to get your walking shoes on, and get outside. Let your dogs lead you to beautiful places where nature soothes the weary soul and vibrant colors ignite feelings of hope. Breath in the fresh air and exhale any worry and fear. See God in creation, be encouraged, and give thanks.
There are countless amazing benefits to walking your dog. These are just a few I’ve found personally helpful.

Sometimes you just need time away. Something deep within you is calling you to the quiet. When that happens, it’s important to listen . . .
As with anything in life, sometimes we just need a little time away to refresh our spirits, fill up, and figures things out. That said, I just wanted to send a little note to say that I will be taking some time away from blogging, and to share why.

“Dogs are like potatoes chips, it’s hard to have just one.” ~ unknown
Once you’ve experienced the unconditional love of a dog, and all the joys that come with having a fun-loving canine companion, it’s hard to stop at just one. When that happens, the joys may be doubled, tripled, or quadrupled, but so might the work, worry, and heartache. This may be especially true if you’re a breeder or involved in canine sports and travel a lot. How do we maintain peace of mind and heart when living with more than one dog while juggling all of life’s obligations?
Read on, and discover 3 essentials to finding harmony in a multi-dog home.
Years ago, when I acquired my first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, I had no idea they’d become addictive. They’re beautiful, friendly, fun-loving, comforting and easy to care for… what’s one more? However, what began as a simple task of caring for one dog risked turning my comfy calm life resembling a bed of roses into a garden of weeds. Thankfully, I learned early on the art of creating a beautiful garden.
Finding harmony in a multi-dog home is similar to creating a beautiful garden.
In preparing this article I interviewed Cindy, a friend whose garden could be compared to Monet’s—it’s extraordinarily beautiful and harmonious. As we spoke, I discovered we had much in common. People often wonder why she would want such a large garden—I mean the more you plant, the more you have to care for, right? Her response echoed the words of my heart: “It’s my passion!” I asked her to offer three words that would inspire others to find harmony in their garden. Her response: Passion, Patience, and Perseverance. These are the same three essentials I would apply to finding harmony in a multi-dog home.

Right outside my door sits this beautiful flower pot overflowing with purple petunias. Just a simple reminder that I’m surrounded by blessings!
Today I was looking at it and thinking how awesome the color purple is! “Majesty” is the word that comes to mind when I see purple. Purple is royal, stately, it bears a quality of grandeur. It makes me think of Jesus – the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
I think if the flowers could sing, they’d be singing praises to King Jesus, our beloved Lord and Savior—
“Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.” 1 Chronicles 29:11
