Buckle up. Safety first, even for your pets!
Pet safety is a priority for any responsible dog owner, but it’s not always easy to know which pet safety products to purchase. Recently I was reading an article called Driving With Your Pet Is More Dangerous Than You Think, by Stephen Messenger. What I found out was shocking!
The paragraph that follows is an excerpt from the article . . .
“No responsible pet owner would ever think of putting their dog in harm’s way — but folks who travel with their furry family members by car might be doing so and not even know it.
A new crash-test study from the Center for Pet Safety (CPS) analyzed how well several popular pet carriers, crates, pilot seats and harnesses kept dogs and cats safe during vehicle collisions — and the results were, well, alarming. As it turns out, many of the products that claim to secure our precious companions in the event of a crash actually offered little in the way of protection.”

I have tried to tell this for many years ,, as in Norway they did test this same like 30 yrs ago and posted then in their kennel club mag. here it is not often talked about ,,most dog owners just do not pay attention and that to me = they do not care enough . On the other hand it is not all a easy subject cause all of the false labels on crates for sale everywhere

Hi Siv, good to hear from you. Thank you for commenting. I agree, it’s a shame this subject is not more talked about. Seems that these car seat companies and such should be held to higher standards, to assure us that we are offering our pets the safest options in car travel. I hope things improve. In the meantime, at least we do have some good choices in pet safety products, thanks for this organization. Blessings. Leila
